Puff Pastry
This is a very simple and tasty snack. You can serve it either warm or cold. Can also be an appetizer. Goes well with your evening tea. Coffee lovers you would also love this. You can always cut down on spices if you want to have a mild version
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serving: 2 persons
Ingredients
Puff pastry sheet 1
Potatoes 2 medium
Mustard seeds 1 pinch
Curry leaves 3
Crushed pepper 1 teaspoon or less
Turmeric 1/4 teaspoon
Salt 1 teaspoon
Egg 1
 
Method
  • Steam or boil potatoes till well done
  • Mash potatoes and add crushed pepper, salt and turmeric.  You can hold on to pepper if you want less spicy
  • Take a frying pan, brush cooking oil on the pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves, when you hear the seeds crack add potatoes
  • Saute for a minute or so and remove from pan
  • Break the egg and beat it with a teaspoon of water to make egg wash
  • Cut the pastry sheet into six equal pieces
  • Add potatoe mixture in the center and fold
  • Crimp the corners with a fork
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Transfer the puff pastries to a baking sheet pan, oil the surface before transferring
  • Apply egg wash on each pastry using a brush, covering all corners and sides
  • Bake for 20 minutes in the oven
  • Remove from oven and serve hot or cold with ketchup or chutnee.
